To discuss the current and future financial development and risk prevention, population as a long-term,systematic,and irreversible factor, should be taken into careful consideration. As for China,we should pay particular attention to the situation of rapid ageing and urbanization in the next 20 years, which would result in profound influence on this issue. To achieve coordinated development of population, resources and the environment,to prioritize investment in human development, and to set up a whole system and mechanism for addressing population issue, should be our policy choices now and in the future.

Based on ArcGIS as analytical tools and the 2000 census data, this research is carried out in county units. The result indicates that among principal function areas, key development zones have the highest population size while optimized key development zones the highest population density. Compared with limited development zones of lowest population quality, optimized development zones show highest population quality. As for age structure, optimized development zones reveal highest proportion of labor population. Further analysis demostrates that population migration does not follow the planning of principal function Areas. Current technical and cultural development may still not meet the requirement of principal function Areas planning. A large number of labors assemble in optimized development zones, which deviates from principal function Areas planning. In order to achieve regional population equilibrium, proper population and industrial policy should be implemented in different principal function Areas with consideration of regional advantadges. In addition, population policy should coordinate with other public policy.

China and India are the largest population countries in the world. The sex ratio at birth (SRB) of both of them have become higher than normal scale and rising since the early of 1980s. Currently,China’s SRB is around 120 per 100 females, and India is 113. Estimate of basing on the census data of India (2001) and China (2000),the size of missing girls between 0 to 19 years old in India and China is 11.9457 millions and 16.1242 millions, and their rate of missing girls is 6.12% and 6.82% respectively. This number and rate of China decreased with age, mainly to the prenatal female missing because of higher SRB,sex selective abortion and female missing report or under report. But the India’s indicators increased with age, mainly to postnatal female disappearance because of the lower sex ratio of age specific mortality rate and male superior living condition than female at young age.

Drawing on the Sample Survey in Five Big Cities in China in 2006,this paper finds that social inclusion of rural-urban migrants,as a complicated process,is mainly affected by seven factors, inhabitation, community, and economic, social and human capital, employment, and health. Based on such findings,it proposes the model of social policy system for social inclusion to respond to rural-urban migrants’ basic needs and solve the problem of social exclusion. As for policy implication, the article concludes that policy for social inclusion of rural-urban migrants should be taken to reduce the structure exclusion and improve social integration. At the same time, community work should be developed effectively to build up social context of migrant policy implementation, and to improve social service delivery.

Population economists argue that different population age structure is related to divergent economic growth rate. Based on existing research on demographic dividend and integrating both quantitative and qualitative methods, this paper examines the effect of demographic dividend on population structure in Zhejiang Province from multiple perspectives, including fertility rate, age structure, dependence ratios, and migration. The author concludes that the demographic window of Zhejiang Province, while emerging early and lasting for a longer period, dissolves rapidly, despite that the inflow of migrants from other provinces has the potential of extending the demographic window. Hence,Zhejiang Province faces double challenges of restricted realization of demographic dividend as well as the demographic debt. Such findings have implications for policy responses to this complex situation.

This paper analyzed the debt situation, liability sources, liability reasons, and liability structure of 12 township birth control offices in Nan county,Hunan Province. We discussed how debt affects the family planning work, and proposed the strategies to solve this problem. By applying scientific ways such as centralizing budget and verifying liabilities, the debt issue has been largely solved. The experience from these cases might be informative and transferable to other township birth control offices that face similar financial problem.

This paper analyzes articles published in Population Research from 1977 to 2008 using the methods of literature metrology. The results showed that first, this journal contains a large number of articles with a wide range of research areas, but a lower number of funded papers. Second,it embrases high-quality authors from various regions, particuarly those in academia (e.g.,universities and research institutes). Finallly, the trend of collaborations has risen, and cited papers have increased gradually. The result suggested that this journal is an excellent academic journal in China, but there is room to improve.
